Coaching Better Suited to Develop Strategic Leadership Skills

Distinguish between tactical leadership skills, which are often better served with training, and strategic leadership skills, which are more typically developed with executive coaching.

We recognize that tactical leadership skills (e.g. delegating, coaching, documenting, team building, etc.) are expediently developed with training interventions. Leaders in the leadership pipeline at levels one and two must develop these tactical skills.

Strategic and enterprise level leadership skills (e.g. remaining highly visible, executing strategy, risk taking, visioning, strategic thinking, etc.) are more effectively developed using executive coaching as an intervention.

In the leadership pipeline, leaders at levels three and four must demonstrate both tactical and strategic leadership skills.
